Lyndon Johnson
Specialist Dam Safety Engineer
Lyndon is our specialist dam safety engineer, with over 15 years of experience in dams and geotechnical engineering. He provides the technical expertise and knowledge of contemporary practice, regulations, and standards that underpin our services. A regular speaker at power and water conferences, Lyndon has published numerous papers and received multiple industry accolades, including Best Conference Paper at the ANCOLD/NZOLD Joint Conference in Rotorua (2013), Best Young Professional Paper in Canberra (2014), and Tasmanian Young Professional Engineer of the Year (2018).
Having developed his career through the Hydro Tasmania group, Lyndon learned his trade on world-class assets. With experience in both consulting and asset owner roles, he combines technical depth across structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, and risk disciplines with practical portfolio management skills—balancing small budgets across large asset bases.
Lyndon has led complex geotechnical investigations, risk assessments, and expert reviews, working on over 300 dams across three countries, including structures up to 240m high. Passionate about modelling and program management, he is dedicated to integrating systems and workflows to do dams better—delivering work efficiently and cost-effectively.

Carmen Johnson
Business Operations Manager
Behind the scenes, Carmen is the backbone of Dam Safety Consulting, managing everything from logistics and finance to client queries and invoicing. With a knack for keeping operations running smoothly, she ensures the business delivers responsive, professional service to every client.
An accountant by trade, her role spans business administration, project coordination, and client communications, providing the essential support that allows technical work to be delivered efficiently and on time. With a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to client satisfaction, Carmen plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless day-to-day operation of the business.
Carmen is also integral in tracking workloads—ensuring our commitments are fulfilled in a timely manner and that the team maintains a healthy work-life balance. With a firm but fair approach, she encourages a sustainable pace, knowing that better work comes from a well-supported team.

Jonas Rutherford
Student Engineer
Jonas Rutherford is a student engineer with a growing passion for dams and dam safety engineering. Bright, quick, and eager to learn, Jonas is helping to power much of Dam Safety Consulting's behind-the-scenes development, building tools and supporting technical analysis.
After working with Dam Safety Consulting for a three-month student placement in collaboration with RMIT University, Jonas proved to be such a valuable asset that we brought him on in a more permanent role. His enthusiasm, technical aptitude, and ability to tackle complex problems made him a natural fit for the team.
His work spans data management, software development, and technical research, bringing fresh energy and innovative thinking to the team. Jonas is developing his skills across risk analysis, geotechnical assessments, and hydraulic modelling, contributing to the efficiency and capability of the business.
