A short story about us

Dam Safety Consulting was founded on a passion for dams and a commitment to finding better ways to ensure their safety and reliability.

Our journey began in 2023, when, after 15 years of experience, our founder, Lyndon Johnson, set out to offer his unique insights across asset owner, manager, and consulting roles to the wider market. With a focus on practical solutions and a drive to improve industry practices, Dam Safety Consulting quickly found its feet, offering dam safety analysis, geotechnical modeling, and expert review. Thanks to a strong professional network and established relationships across the industry, we were able to deliver high-quality, independent advice from day one.

Despite never intending to grow, in 2024 Dam Safety Consulting welcomed an engineering intern through a partnership with RMIT University to promote careers in dam engineering. Our intern, Jonas, proved enthusiastic, capable, and a thoughtful problem-solver. After a successful three-month placement, he accepted a more permanent role with the company. As the team expanded, additional administrative and coordination support became essential, and Carmen Johnson formally joined the company to streamline processes—allowing Lyndon and Jonas to focus on delivering technical excellence.

At the time of writing, Dam Safety Consulting has worked with a range of large and small clients across Australia, including Hydro Tasmania, Snowy Hydro, SunWater, SeqWater, and the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy and Water. Despite being a small team, we maintain strong working relationships with other high-quality businesses like HARC, Pitt & Sherry, ATC Williams, and Aurecon. We are proud of the work we've accomplished and look forward to seeing what the future holds.
